Sambalpur: At least eight people were injured, some of them critically, after a state-owned Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) bus dashed against a stationary truck in Odisha’s Sambalpur district in the early hours of Saturday.
Preliminary reports said that the incident took place on a bypass road of National Highway No. 53 under Jamankira police station area when the OSRTC bus was proceeding to Balangir from Keonjhar.
The injured persons were rescued and rushed to a hospital in Jamankira. Some of them including the bus driver have been shifted to VIMSAR, Burla for treatment as their condition was critical.
After getting information, a team of police personnel rushed to the spot and launched an investigation into the incident.
The mishap came close on the heels of the death of 12 people after an OSRTC bus collided head-on with a mini bus near Digapahandi in Ganjam district on June 24.
