Balasore: In a major breakthrough, the Balasore Town police on Sunday arrested eight members of a bike-lifting gang and recovered 17 stolen motorcycles from their possession.
The accused were identified as Bitu Barik (26), Sambit Raul (19), Sanjay Soren (19), Ganesh Samal (19), Pratap Samantaray (28), Prashant Mallick (22), SK Riyasid (20) and Rehmat Ali (26).
Those arrested used to steal bikes parked outside malls and market places in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Balasore and sell them at different parts of the state and outside, police sources said.
