Shimla: Eight members of a family were among 30 feared killed in incidents of landslide and flash flood in Himachal Pradesh, triggered by heavy rainfall since Friday, PTI reported.
At least 10 people have suffered serious injuries, state Disaster Management Department director Sudesh Kumar Mokhta said on Saturday.
He informed that 36 weather-related incidents have been reported so far, with the maximum damage in Mandi, Kangra and Chamba districts.
In Mandi, 13 people have died and six are missing in flash floods and landslides. Deputy Commissioner Arindam Chaudhary said those missing are feared dead.
Bodies of eight members of a family were found from the debris of a house at Kashan village in Gohar development block which collapsed in a landslide.
Teams from National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local police carried out a four-hour search operation.
The body of a girl was recovered some distance from her house after a flash flood in Baghi nullah. Five members of her family are feared washed away.
Two people were killed and two others injured after their car was hit by boulders in Shimla’s Theog, while three others lost their lives after their house collapsed at Banet village in Chamba.
A total of 743 roads, including Manali-Chandigarh national highway at Mandi and Shimla-Chandigarh highway at Shoghi, have been blocked.
