Jagatsinghpur: As many as 8 betel vines were demolished with support of their owners at the site of the proposed integrated steel plant of JSW in the district on Wednesday.
Continuing its drive to acquire land with support and cooperation of the locals, the company officials accompanied by those of district administration measured 35 betel vines in Dhinkia, Mahala and Govindpur, Patana. Eight vines were demolished during the drive.
The villagers of the three villages voluntarily surveyed the betel vines in presence of local tehsildars and administrative and company officials. Five teams led by Ersama tehsildar executed the work.
The betel vines will be measured in Dhinkia and Mahal villages in coming days.
The company, in a release, claimed that people of Dhinkia panchayat, who have been opposing the steel project, are coming forward voluntarily for measuring their betel vines.
