Bhubaneswar: As many as 8 places in Odisha received more than 100 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours on the impact of low pressure area over north Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood.
According to regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), here, Chhatrapur in Ganjam district recorded highest 137.6 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, followed by Aska in the same district with 135.2 mm.
While Puri received 124 mm rainfall during the period, Banpur in Khurda district recorded 107 mm.
Most places in Ganjam district received heavy rainfall with Belaguntha registering 123.3 mm, Bhanjanagar 119, Digapahandi 119 and Gopalpur 100.4 mm.
Berhampur also witnessed heavy downpour creating water logging in Gajapati Nagar and Basudev Nagar. The rainwater entered the houses and flooded the roads in these areas.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thundershowers in nine districts on Saturday. The districts are Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Puri, Khurda and Keonjhar.
