8 Places In Odisha Record Over 41 Degree Celsius, IMD Forecasts Hotter Days Ahead

Bhubaneswar: Even as intensity of heatwave came down in several places of Odisha with 8 centres recording more than 41 degree Celsius on Tuesday, the IMD forecast rise in temperature in next 5 days.

According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, Paralakhemundi was the hottest place in the state on the day with maximum (day) temperature of 42.8 degree Celsius. It was followed by Nayagarh with 42.2 degree Celsius.

While Bhubaneswar and Balangir recorded 41.8 degree Celsius, Angul registered maximum temperature of 41.7, Malkangiri 41.5, and Baripada and Nuapada 41.2 degree Celsius.

The IMD said Paradip recorded 38.8 degree Celsius which was second highest temperature in April in the port town. Earlier, the coastal town had recorded 38.2 degree Celsius on April 8, 1989 while the highest temperature in the month has been registered at 40.7 degree Celsius so far.

The Met office has issued orange warning and forecast that heat wave to severe heat wave condition is very likely at one or two places over in Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada districts.

It has also issued yellow warning and said heat wave condition is very likely at one or two places in the districts of
Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Nuapada, Cuttack, Jajpur, Balasore and Bhadrak.
