Bhubaneswar: Boudh was the hottest place in the state at 42.5 degree Celsius, for the second consecutive day on Wednesday. However, it was less by two degrees compared to Tuesday when the mercury recorded 44.5 degree Celsius.
Boudh is among the 8 places in Odisha which continued to reel under heatwave condition as temperature went up to 40 degree Celsius or more on the day.
According to evening bulletin of regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Boudh was followed by Sonepur with 41.7 degree, Jajpur 41, Jharsuguda 40.8, Bargarh 40.4, Angul 40.1, Sambalpur and Balangir 40 degree Celsius.
Bhubaneswar had recorded 38.2 degree Celsius on the day while it was 37.4 in Cuttack.
The IMD has issued yellow warning for different districts in the state for next 5 days, forecasting thunderstorm with light to moderate rainfall.
It has also forecast that the cyclonic circulation over South Andaman Sea is likely to develop into a low-pressure area over the same region around May 6 and move northwestwards before gradually intensifying into a depression during the subsequent 48 hours.
