Paralakhemundi: An eight-year-old boy was killed and his parents sustained critical injuries after a car dashed against the motorcycle carrying them at a village in Adaba area of Odisha’s Gajapati district on Saturday.
The mishap took place near Turanipani village under the jurisdiction of Adaba police station in the district of Odisha. While the boy died after the collision, his parents with serious injuries are admitted to the Mohana Community Health Centre (CHC).
The injured have been identified as Turanipani ASHA worker Santoshini Mudala and her husband Santosh Madala.
According to sources, Santoshini was on her way to attend a meeting at the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) office. She and her two sons were pillion riding on Santosh’s bike when the two-wheeler was involved in a head-on collision with a car.
Locals rescued the family and took them to the health facility where the doctors declared the eight-year-old dead. Santoshini’s younger son has fortunately not sustained any injury.
The driver of the car fled from the scene. Police have seized the car and have initiated a probe.
