Bhubaneswar: An eight-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped in Sailashree Vihar area of Bhubaneswar while returning home after attending tuition on Thursday evening.
The family members of the boy lodged a complaint at the Chandrasekharpur Police Station, prompting police to launch an investigation.
Sources said the boy had gone to his tuition but failed to return home on time. Worried over this, his family members searched the locality before learning that the child had been abducted. They immediately approached the police and a case was registered based on the complaint.
Two special teams of Chandrasekharpur police have been formed to trace the missing child. Police said no ransom call has been received so far.
The incident has raised serious concerns about children’s safety in the residential area. Locals expressed shock over the kidnapping and urged authorities to step up patrolling during evening hours.
Police said efforts are on by the special teams to rescue the child safely and identify those responsible for the alleged abduction. Further details are awaited.
