Berhampur: At a tender age of 8 years when she should be learning things, an Odia girl has authored a summarised version of mythological epic ‘Ramayan’ in English language.
Ishita Achary, belonging to Berhampur in Ganjam district, completed the feat in 22 days and her 57-page literary creation has earned her a place in the ‘India Book of Records’ for becoming the youngest author to write Ramayana.
Ishita, who stays in Chennai with her parents, said she liked to write and was encouraged by her parents. The parents of Class III student of NSN Memorial School, Chennai, said she started writing the book in May after watching the retelecast of TV serial Ramayana during COVID-19 lockdown.
Ishita’s father Sanjeet Achary, who feels proud for her daughter’s achievement, said, “She was always attracted towards Ramayana, Mahabharata and other mythological stories. Her curiosity and creativity helped her achieve the feat.”
“Ishita used to watch the Ramayana and share stories with us. So, we encouraged her to write in her own language and she completed it on 22 days,” said Ishita’s mother, Rashmita.
