Phulbani: An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a middle-age man at Khajuripada village in Kandhamal district on Thursday.
Police have detained the accused, a 55-year-old man, for questioning based on a complaint lodged by the family of the minor girls.
According to available information, the minor girl was taking bath near her house when the accused forcibly took her to a secluded place and raped her.
In a similar incident, on July 2, a minor girl was abducted and gangraped by two teenagers near Partamaha in the district.
The incident took place when the girl and her physically-challenged father were returning to their village after applying for a tribal caste certificate at Daringbadi tehsil office.
