Angul: An eight-year-old girl was found lying unconscious in a garbage dump here on Sunday morning.
Locals found the child in the rubbish heap near an Aahar centre and informed police, who took her to the district headquarters hospital.
The reason behind the girl’s condition is yet to be ascertained. However, police suspect that she was raped by some miscreants, who then tried to kill her. They later dumped her in the rubbish heap.
Meanwhile, the child’s family has lodged a police complaint, stating that she was abducted from the fish market on Saturday evening.
Police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
