Bhadrak: More than 80 cattle were rescued from a truck near Bishnupur on National Highway-16 in Bhadrak district on Thursday.
Three persons were detained in connection with the incident.
According to available information, a group of locals intercepted the truck and a Bolero that was accompanying it. They later ransacked the SUV and called up the police.
Police seized both the vehicles and took three people into custody from the spot.
“The cattle were being transported to West Bengal. The trio is being interrogated to extract more information regarding involvement of other persons with the smuggling racket”, a police officer informed.
Meanwhile, the locals have demanded strict action against the culprits.
