80 Platoons Of Police Deployed For Barabati ODI: DGP

Cuttack: The Odisha Police have made elaborate security arrangements for the one-day international (ODI) match between India and West Indies at Barabati Stadium here on Sunday.

Briefing the media after visiting the stadium with the Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi, Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh and the Traffic DCP Sagarika Nath, Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay said, “I have personally reviewed the security arrangements in and around the stadium and I am satisfied that the police commissioner, who is ably assisted by the ADG, Law and Order, have made adequate security arrangements.”

Stating that 80 platoons of police and large number of police officers have been mobilised in and around the stadium, the DGP expressed confidence that the event will conclude without any untoward incident.

The Police Commissioner said that Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel, bomb disposal squad, dog squad and 300 police officers will be pressed into service. “Our prime focus is to ensure proper security to the spectators, VVIPs and the players of both the team,” he added.
