86.70% Students Clear CBSE Class X Exam


Bhubaneswar: The result of the annual Class X examination, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), was announced on Tuesday,

It was declared at 1.20 pm, nearly three hours earlier than what CBSE authorities had mentioned (4 pm).

The overall pass percentage recorded is 86.70 percent.

This year, girls have outperformed the boys with an overall pass percentage of 88.67 compared to 85.32 of boys.

Four students—Prakhar Mittal from Gurgaon, Rimzhim Aggarwal from Bijnor, Nandini Garg from Shamli and Sreelakhsmi G from Cochin— have topped the examination with 99.8 percent (499 out of 500 marks).

While 89.27 percent students in Bhubaneswar region comprising Odisha, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh have cleared the examination, of the total number of successful students of this region, 91.36 percent are girls and 87.77 percent are boys.

Soumyadeep Pradhan, a student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Dhanpur, from Odisha, has secured the third position in the country in the differently-abled category by scoring 484 out of 500 marks.

Of the institutions, Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalayas have performed better while region-wise, Thiruvananthapuram has had the best pass percentage.

Students can know their results on the CBSE websites www.cbseresults.nic.in andwww.cbse.nic.in . Besides, the results would also be available on www.results.nic.in

Students can check their results on Google Search, Microsoft Organizer, Bing Search and UMANG App. They can also check results via Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). For students residing in Delhi can call 24300699 and students outside Delhi can call 011 24300699.

The school authorities would know the detailed information on the results, including the overall pass percentage.

About 16,38,428 students across the country had appeared for CBSE Class X examination this year at 4453 centres.

In the Bhubaneswar zone comprising Odisha, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh, 77,708 students of 927 schools had appeared for the examination in 228 centres.

From Odisha, more than 18,000 students had appeared for the examination, sources in the CBSE regional office in Bhubaneswar said.

The academicians and educationists believe that there pass percentage in Class X examination would increase this year due to change in examination pattern and passing criteria.

In a circular issued to all CBSE-affiliated schools across the country, the Board has decided to implement overall 33% pass mark criteria for this batch of students who do not need to secure 33% separately in board exams and internal assessments.
