894 Missing Children Rescued In Eight Days In Odisha: DGP Abhay

Cuttack: Odisha Police has rescued 894 missing children of the state in eight days, said Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay here on Wednesday.

Briefing mediapersons on Wednesday, Abhay said the rescue is part of a special drive in coordination with the Crime Branch which concluded on January 25.

Stating that among the 894 children, 94 are boys and 800 girls, he said the maximum missing children who have been traced are from Kendrapara (127), Mayurbhanj (111) and Balasore (88) districts. Apart from this, the two other districts are Bhadrak and Jajpur, he added.

Praising the efforts of the district Superintendents of Police in the rescue of missing children, the DGP said the special drive will continue.

He further said the state government has recently announced formation of a special wing under the Crime Branch to deal with the offences against women and children. For the operationalisation of this wing, the Chief Minister has sanctioned the appointment of 62 staff.
