Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested nine more persons for their alleged involvement in violence during BJD’s five-hour hartal on Monday.
“Six persons were arrested by Chandrasekharpur police for allegedly damaging a board of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd in the area. Three others were arrested by Saheed Nagar police on charges of thrashing a person and ransacking his vehicle. All nine were taken into custody on the basis of CCTV footage,” police commissioner Y B Khurania said.
The number of arrests for hartal violence is likely to go up, he added.
On Tuesday, three people, including a juvenile, were arrested for allegedly harassing a girl and damaging her scooter at Delta Square here during the hartal.
