9-hour Bandh Over Road Repair Hits Life In Kamakhyanagar

Kamakhyanagar: Almost all business establishments, educational institutions and offices downed shutters while vehicles stayed off the road in response to a 9-hour (8 am to 5 pm) bandh in Kamakhyanagar of Dhenkanal district on Wednesday.
The strike was called by the local lawyers’ association and supported by district Congress to press for a four-point charter of demands, including repair of a road connecting Bhuban and Patri on National Highway-53.
The agitators staged road blockades and picketed at various places demanding immediate fulfilment of their demands.
Earlier on March 25, a 12-hour bandh was observed by Kamakhyanagar Notified Area Council (NAC) seeking repair of the same road on NH-53.
