Bhubaneswar: Nine Maoist cadres, including two top women cadres, on Wednesday surrendered before IG Police (Southern Range) in Odisha’s Boudh.
According to police sources, all the nine Maoists, including women cadres Yogi Madvi alias Jyoti and Pozze Madvi, belong to Muler village of Dantewada district in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
While Yogi had joined the CPI (Maoist) in 2019 and was in charge of personal security Maoist leader Sila alias Nagmani, Pozze joined the extremist group in 2020 with Divisional Committee Member (DCM) of 8th company of KKBN division Vikash alias Jagdish.
Among the others who have surrendered include Samaya Madkam alias Naresh, a DCM of the KKBN Division. He was the Commander of the 1st platoon in the 8th Company of the division and 17 cases pending against him in Odisha’s Kandhamal, Boudh, and Nuapada districts.
The others were working as party members in the Maoist organisation.
