9-Month-Old Baby Boy Stolen From Khallikote Bus Stand Rescued In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: A nine-month-old boy, who was allegedly stolen from near a bus stand at Khallikote in Ganjam district, was rescued by police from Bhubaneswar and united with his mother on Thursday.

A 45-year-old woman, identified as Prabhasini Sahu of Rangameru village in Ganjam district, has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping the baby with the intention to sell him to a childless couple for a hefty price.

Speaking to the media, Ganjam SP Jagmohan Meenathe said that the baby went missing from near the bus stand when his mother and grandmother were resting on the verandah of a clinic at Khallikote bus stand. “CCTV footage revealed that the accused picked the baby boy and fled towards Aska. Several people, including locals in and around Khallikote bus stand, the sister of the accused in Bhubaneswar and one of the friends of her husband at Sheragada were questioned. She was finally traced to an under-construction building in Sundarpada area and arrested,” he said.
