Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Capital on Monday recorded 40.6 degree Celsius and was among the nine centres in the state that recorded temperature of 40 degree Celsius and above on the day.
Malkangiri and Boudh districts recorded the highest for the day at 41 degree Celsius followed by Bhubaneswar which recorded 40.6 on the day.
The other districts where the mercury was above 40 are: Angul 40.1 Celsius, Sambalpur 40.1 Celsius, Sundargarh 40 Celsius, Hirakud 40.4 Celsius, Bhawanipatna and Titilagarh 40.
Earlier in the day the IMD had forecast light thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rain for the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Cuttack had recorded 38.2 degree Celsius on the day.
