BHUBANESWAR: As many as nine railway stations in Odisha will have special train coaches to be used for COVID-19 patients.
The Railway Ministry had taken the initiative to convert the train coaches into COVID care places at the stations across the country. Total 125 stations will have this facility.
With more than five lakh migrants already registered with the State Government and more expected to come by train, the Railways’ facility will lend a helping hand in handling the situation. The stations identified to have the facility are Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road, Sambalpur, Titlagarh, Kantabanji, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Rayagada and Koraput.
The coaches will have medical staff and necessary facilities to take care of the coronavirus positive patients. The Railway employees will assist in the entire procedure.
It will be the responsibility of the State Government to admit the patients from these facilities to a COVID hospital in case of emergency.
