New Delhi: India saw 92 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the number of those affected to 1071 on Monday. Four more have succumbed to the killer virus and the death toll now stands at 29 now, according to Joint Secretary, Health Ministry, Luv Aggarwal.
A 52-year-old COVID-19 patient with a history of diabetes and hypertension has died in Pune.
The World Health Organisation had recently raised concerns over low testings done in India. R Ganga Ketkar, Indian Council of Medical Research, on Monday said that 38,442 tests have been conducted till now, out of which 3.9k were done on Sunday.
The Health Ministry has clarified that India is still in the local transmission stage and they will admit when it reaches the 3rd stage, that is, the community transmission. The Ministry also pointed out that the lockdown seemed to be effective in controlling the numbers so far.
99 people have recovered so far in India.
The pandemic has infected over 7.35 lakh people and killed at least 34,000, globally.
