Youths with toy guns at state bjp office in Bhubaneswar on Monday
Bhubaneswar: Two youths, claiming to be BJP workers, were arrested for
threatening BJP state president Basanta Panda with toy guns at the party
headquarters here on Monday.
The duo, identified as Pinaki Mohanty and Sambit Panda, hailing from
Baranga in Cuttack district, barged into the office and threatened Panda with
two toy guns. Some party members caught hold of them and handed
them over to police.
According to Panda, the youths had come to his office on Sunday
seeking financial help from the PM’s relief fund or CM’s relief fund
for treatment of the mother of one of them. “I had asked them to come with concerned
documents. However, they came today and threatened me with guns,” he said.
Later, in a press statement, senior BJP leader and former minister Manmohan Samal said the duo were not affiliated with BJP. “A thorough probe woulkd reveal who conspired and instigated them to dare do such a thing,” he said.
