Bhubaneswar: At least 96 prisoners and jail staffers have tested COVID positive at Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar.
The jail authorities informed that the swab samples of 195 persons were collected for testing. Of these, 96 came out positive.
The infected persons are kept in isolation and the jail doctor is monitoring their health condition.
Earlier on May 16, an under-trial prisoner from Jharpada jail had succumbed to COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack..
On Friday, 12,523 fresh COVID cases were reported in Odisha. Of the, 1,842 cases were from Khurda district.
