A ‘Kissing Device’ For Long-Distance Lovers; Check Out This Chinese Invention

Beijing: A Chinese university has invented a ‘kissing device’ which has created quite a stir in the country.

The unique device is intended to let long-distance couples share intimate moments – virtually, through Internet.

So how does it work?

It’s a contraption with ‘silicon lips’ that has pressure sensors and actuators. The device can mimic a real kiss, and also replicate the pressure, movement and temperature of a user’s lips, China’s Global Times reported.

Along with kissing motion, it can also transmit the sound the user makes.

To use the device a mobile app has to be downloaded and plugged to the phone’s charging port. The partner has to be paired on the app, before the user starts a video call and transmits kisses to each other.

Inventor Jiang Zhongli, of Chanzhou university, revealed how the idea came to his mind. He was in a long-distance relationship and could only stay in touch with her through phone. That inspired him to think of a device like this.

Netizens reacted in contrasting ways. Some users called it funny, but many thought it was ‘vulgar’ and ‘creepy’.

Some of those who didn’t approve of the device expressed concerns that minors could buy and use it.
