Bhubaneswar: Melodious songs brought some cheer for music lovers amid the COVID gloom in the city at the “Prem Anand Ghazal Sandhya 2022” here on Monday.
The music director and composer of Odisha, Prem Anand has for the first time composed Odia songs in ghazal style and is making an album named ‘Antahswara’.
Eight ghazals, written and composed by him, were performed by popular singers from Odisha Diptirekha, Sourav, Samikhya, Aroshish, Abhijeet, Shasanka Sekhar, Sri Charan and Biswajit.
Lyricist Bijay Malla coordinated the programme.
Anand has composed over 5,000 songs in Odia, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi and other Indian languages. He has already showcased his talent in opera, music albums, bhajans and advertisements.
The songs are “Mu Asahaya’, “Emiti kete din”, “Katha Deithila”, “Emiti Hasucha”, “Tumaku Chadi”, “Tume asila pare”, “Mo pain se dina”, “Mo samana ghara jhia” and “Pruthibi pain prarthana”.
The inaugural function was presided over by Odia Media Director and spokesperson Shuvrangshu Panda.
The festival was held amid COVID guidelines and only invited guests were allowed to maintain social distance at the function.
