A Teary Goodbye To Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi: Former External Affairs Minister and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj was cremated at the Lodhi Road crematorium with full state honours in Delhi on Wednesday.

The former Delhi chief minister passed away on Tuesday night after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was 67.

The mortal remains of the BJP leader were kept at her residence in the morning. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, veteran BJP leader LK Advani, amonf others, paid their last respects to the departed leader at her residence and met her family members.

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi was seen hugging Sushma’s daughter Bansuri. Her son Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh too visited her home.

The mortal remains were later moved to the BJP headquarters.

Delhi and Haryana governments have declared a two-day state mourning as a mark of respect to the ‘people’s minister’.
