Bargarh: A woman gave birth in an auto-rickshaw in front of a hospital and another on the verandah of the same hospital in the district on Saturday morning. Only because they had not undergone COVID-19 test.
According to sources, Netrananda Mohapatra of Tora village in the district took his wife, who was in an advanced stage of pregnancy, to the district headquarters hospital in an auto-rickshaw. When they consulted the doctor, he told them to first conduct COVID-19 test.
“But no one was present in the hospital to conduct the test. The delivery room was also closed,” said Netrananda. Then the woman gave birth in the auto-rickshaw.
Likewise, Bhabindra Meena of Gudesira village had taken his wife to the same hospital. The woman was also asked to undergo COVID-19 test. As the woman could not bear the delivery pain, Bhabindra took her to the verandah of locked “Matru Mangal Kendra” on the hospital premises where she gave birth, the sources said.
