Berhampur: The young Odisha stars who share a common name are shining bright AITA Super Series Under-16 meet in Berhampur.
Bhubaneswar’s Aahaan Mishra and Aahan, the top seeds in boys’ and girls’ singles, respectively, cruised into the title round with straight-set victories here on Wednesday.
Aahaan rolled past West Bengal’s Subhradip Mukherjee 6-1, 6-2 to set up a title clash with Fazal Ali Meer. The second-seeded Fazal, Aaahaan’s toughest rival, routed Odisha’s Anshuman Acharya 6-0, 6-1.
In the girls’ semifinals, Aahan saw off the challenge of Bengal’s Indrakshi Bhattacharya 6-3, 6-4. In the other last-four clash, second-seeded Riya Roy of Bengal was pushed to the hilt by Odisha girl Shazfa Wania before prevailing 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
The finals will be held on the clay courts of Union Club, Berhampur, on February 6.
