Aamir Khan Confirms ‘3 Idiots’ Sequel With A 10-Year Leap

Mumbai: After years of speculation, Aamir Khan has confirmed that a sequel to the iconic film ‘3 Idiots’ is in the works.

The actor revealed that the story will move forward with a 10-year time leap, promising an emotional and meaningful continuation of the much-loved characters’ journey, which he described as “a beautiful story.”

Speaking to Amar Ujala, Aamir revealed that the story will follow Rancho, Farhan and Raju a decade later.

“Raju is working on 3 Idiots 2 right now. I’ve heard the story and it’s wonderful,” Aamir said.

“The script still needs some work, but the story

itself is really good — unusual, with the same humour as the first film. It follows the characters from 3 Idiots, picking up 10 years later,” he added.

Expressing excitement about playing Phunsukh Wangdu again, the actor said, “It’s a beautiful story conceived by Raju and Abhijat. I’m looking forward to it, and to playing Phunsukh Wangdu again.”

Aamir was earlier set to reunite with Rajkumar Hirani for a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke. However, the actor revealed that the project has been put on hold due to issues with the script.

There is also a buzz around Aamir possibly portraying Ashneer Grover in a biopic.

Reports suggest that the actor has shown interest in the role. The film is also said to star Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead and will reportedly be directed by Rahul Mody, though an official announcement is awaited.

Aamir is currently occupied with promoting his son Junaid Khan’s upcoming film ‘Ek Din’, which also features Sai Pallavi and is slated to hit theatres on May 1.
