Aamir Khan’s ‘3 Idiots’ To Return With Sequel After 15 Years: Report

Mumbai: Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi’s ‘3 Idiots’ is set to return with a ts sequel after 15 years.

A Pinkvilla report stated that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has already locked the script for the sequel and is going to bring back the cast of the 2009 blockbuster movie for the second instalment.

The report further said that the sequel will go on floors in the second half of 2026.

“The script has been locked, and the team is extremel

y excited for it. They feel the magic of the first film has returned, and is as funny, as emotional, and as meaningful as the first part,” a source was quoted as saying by Pinkvilla.

The sequel will apparently be a continuation of ‘3 Idiots’ and will pick up after the climax scene of the 2009 film where the characters Rancho, Farhan and Raju went their separate ways.

“He dedicated time to expand the 3 Idiots sequel into a full-fledged screenplay. Hirani always had a seed of an idea for 3 Idiots 2, but he wanted it to be perfect and something that would stand up to the legacy of the original,” the insider added.

Aamir and Hirani have apparently put the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic on hold for now as they aren’t happy with the script.

Helmed by Hirani, ‘3 Idiots’ also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Boman Irani and Mona Singh in pivotal roles.
