Mumbai: Videos of several IPS officers visiting ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ actor-maker Aamir Khan’s Bandra residence went viral on social media on Sunday.
Even as three police vehicles, escorting nearly 25 IPS officers, were seen leaving Aamir’s residence, their purpose of visit was unclear, leaving fans concerned.
Amidst widespread speculation, the actor’s team cleared the air and stated that it was just a ‘courtesy visit’.
“It was a courtesy visit. They are all probationary IPS officers who wanted to meet Aamir Khan,” an official was quoted as saying by PTI.
“The IPS trainees of the current batch had requested a meeting with him, and Aamir Khan hosted them at his residence,” said a member of Aamir’s team.
He further shared that after the 1999 film ‘Sarfarosh’, several IPS trainees wanted to meet Aamir. The actor has since been meeting batches of IPS officers.
Aamir was recently seen in ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, directed by R S Prasanna. The film, a spiritual sequel to the critically acclaimed film ‘Taare Zameen Par’, was released in theatres on June 20.
The film also stars Genelia D’Souza, Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
Aamir will next be seen in the Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Coolie’, where he portrays the character of ‘Dahaa.’
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film will also star Nagarjuna, Shruti Hassan and Satyaraj in key roles.
Aamir is also producing Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s ‘Lahore 1947’, which will be helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi.
