Balangir: Members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) created a ruckus at Balangir Public Health (PH) office on Tuesday over the issue of water scarcity in their locality.
The agitators, mostly women, assembled on the premises of the Public Health office and broke earthen pots as a mark of protest.
“The officials concerned have failed to take appropriate measures to mitigate water shortage in the area. As a result, the local residents have been facing worst situation during the scorching summer. We will be forced to intensify agitation and observe bandh in the days to come, if the demands are not met as early as possible,” an agitator alleged.
The Public Health department officials, including the executive engineer, admitted the water crisis in the area due to delay in fitting of pipes in a number of wards. They assured that the work for supplying water to the households will be completed at the earliest.
