Kolkata: With Union Home Minister Amit Shah virtually blowing the poll beagle for BJP during his two-day visit to West Bengal, Trinamool Congress has started rallying support from other opposition parties to take on the might of the saffron party.
In a repeat show of the Mahagathbandhan or grand alliance for the General Elections last year that failed to take off, several opposition parties including NCP and AAP have extended their support to TMC.
On Sunday, NCP chief Sharad Pawar called chief minister Mamata Banerjee to lend her support in the upcoming Assembly elections. He also assured that he will visit West Bengal in January to attend the rallies and public meetings of the ruling Trinamool, according to TMC sources.
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and CRC chief Bhupesh Baghel have also assured to support the TMC in the upcoming polls. Kejriwal on Friday took to Twitter to slam the BJP led Central government for allegedly breaking the federal structure of the country.
“The BJP government is illegally asking for Central deputation of IPS officers from Bengal. They are not bothered about the jurisdiction and federal structure,” mentioned Kejriwal in his tweet. On the following day. Kejriwal again lent support to Mamata in social media over the same issue.
According to a section of the political observers, the opposition parties are trying to form an alliance to refrain the saffron camp to form the government. Some are of the view that the support of ace politicians like Pawar and Baghel may prove beneficial for the TMC.
