Sonepur: An newborn baby, abandoned in a garbage dump, was rescued by a man in Odisha’s Subarnapur district on Tuesday.
As per reports, the man, Gupteswar Jhankar of Matikhai village under Ulunda police limits of the district, had gone to pluck flowers in early morning. While he was collecting flowers on the outskirts of the village, Gupteswar heard the cries of a baby.
Tracing the cry, he went on searching for the baby in the area. After some time, he found the newborn boy wrapped in a cloth lying in a garbage dump. He brought the baby to the village and informed the villagers. They took him to the hospital at Ulunda.
After checking the newborn, the doctors of the hospital said his health condition was normal.
On being informed, the police went to the hospital. They have also contacted the local childline officials to take care of the baby, the sources said.
