Kendrapada: Tension erupted at Jadupur Gada under Mahakalpada block in Kendrapada district on Sunday after a group of miscreants tried to abduct a girl while she was on her way to college.
According to reports, three motorcycle-borne miscreants surrounded the girl, a Plus III student of Gopinathpur Sanskrit College, and tried to abduct her. Hearing her scream, some locals rushed to the spot, following which the miscreants fled the spot.
Peeved over the incident, an irate mob staged a blockade on National Highway-5 (A) by burning tyres, demanding immediate arrest of the miscreants.
Police have started investigation into the incident.
