Abhijit Dash: His Name Spells Hope For Poor, Needy Patients at Cuttack’s SCB

Ask any doctor or patient in Cuttack’s SCB Medical College & Hospital about Abhijit Dash and they all know him. His name is the first that springs into the minds of doctors when they have to direct a needy patient for help.

A B.Tech engineer by profession, his passion to serve people turned him into a full time philanthropist. He provides a helping hand to poor and needy patients who struggle with life and death on the roadside. Hailing from a small village, Chasikhanda in Biridi block of Jagatsinghpur, he started his mission seven years back.

Every day, a stream of patients descends on SCB Medical College & Hospital in the hope of getting treated for deadly diseases. However, most of them either cannot afford the treatment or do not know how to go about the whole process. This is when Abhjit steps in, even helping them in arranging blood during an emergency from the blood bank. He becomes a connecting link between donors and patients.

That is not all. He also takes upon himself to come to the rescue of hit and run accident victims and those who lie uncared for on the footpath. He uses social media forums to raise funds for these people and most often succeeds in getting a good response. By now, people who respond to his requests for any kind of help on social media also know that he is a genuine person.

It is not for nothing that he has been conferred the Swami Vivekananda Youth Award, 2020 on National Youth Day of India, for his dedication, determination and selfless services to the needy, poor and marginalised people.
