Abhishek Bachchan Recalls Shah Rukh Khan Taking ‘Personal Responsibility’ For His Career

Mumbai: Abhishek Bachchan has revealed that Shah Rukh Khan has played a significant role in supporting his career, saying the superstar has “literally taken personal responsibility” for him on several occasions, including their upcoming film King.

Speaking to BBC Asian Network, Abhishek opened up about his long-standing bond with Shah Rukh and recalled how the superstar would occasionally join him, Hrithik Roshan, Uday Chopra and Sikander Kher for cricket sessions before he entered Bollywood.

Abhishek also remembered seeking Shah Rukh’s advice before making his film debut.

When he asked the superstar which film was his favourite, Shah Rukh told him that the film he was currently working on should always be his favourite, as that was what mattered in the present.

Recalling the advice, Abhishek said Shah Rukh did not dwell on his past work and added, “Right now it is King.”

The actor further said he holds Shah Rukh in “immense love and respect” and has always looked up to him as an elder brother. He added that the superstar’s support has gone far beyond simply offering encouragement.

“He’s been so, so supportive of me and my craft and my career, and has literally taken, like, personal responsibility several times, including now in ‘King’ as well,” said Abhishek.

Shah Rukh Khan and Abhishek Bachchan have previously shared the screen in films including Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Happy New Year.

The actors are set to reunite in Siddharth Anand’s upcoming action film King, which is slated to hit theatres on December 24, 2026.
