Mumbai: As fans eagerly look forward to Shoojit Sircar’s ‘I Want To Talk’, the filmmaker revealed that Abhishek Bachchan was not his first choice to play the lead.
During an interview with Cyrus Broacha on his podcast, Shoojit shared that he wanted Irrfan Khan to essay the main role in ‘I Want To Talk.’
“In I Want To Talk, it was supposed to be Irrfan. Abhishek came quite close to that. I am very satisfied with the performance,” said Shoojit.
The director had worked with Irrfan in ‘Piku’ (2015) and the film was a commercial success worldwide. ‘Piku’ also starred Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan .
Irrfan battled neuroendocrine cancer before breathing his last on April 29, 2020, in Mumbai.
Recently, during the music launch of ‘I Want To Talk’, Shoojit’s lead hero Abhishek said that the film taught him to be ‘fear-free’ and try doing something different.
Abhishek essays the character of a middle-aged man who is recovering after undergoing a throat surgery. The film revolves around the complex relationship between a father and his daughter.
Produced by Kino Works and Rising Sun Films,’ I Want To Talk’ will hit theatres on November 22.
