Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee said on Sunday that he will take revenge from ‘traitors’ if the party is voted to power for the third time.

Addressing a public rally at South 24 Parganas, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew said that those who are maligning the ruling TMC will have to pay for false claims.

“Those who are defecting to the saffron camp for personal benefits are now maligning the TMC. After forming the state government for the third time, I will get answers from them. The BJP will have to pay for their false claims,” Abhishek thundered.

Showing a letter of Sudipto Sen, the kingpin of Sarada ponzi scam, Abhishek said that it is well documented that Suvendu Adhikari had taken Rs 6 crore in the Sarada scam.

“The BJP leaders don’t take names, but indirectly call me extortionist. I am challenging them directly to prove my guilt. All 31 assembly constituencies of South 24 Parganas will be bagged by the TMC,” he claimed.

Former state minister Suvendu, who recently defected to BJP, has time and again slammed Mamata’s ‘bhaipo’ (nephew) by calling him a ‘tolabaj’ (extortionist).

Before being voted to power in 2011, Mamata had claimed that she will curb the alleged ‘violence’ resorted to by the former Left Front government.

According to political observers, such violent calls of taking ‘revenge’ can be detrimental for the TMC as the BJP often accuses the ruling party of playing ‘violent politics’ in West Bengal.

Reacting to Abhishek’s public cry, BJP spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said that the former is trying to hide the failures of TMC.

“Unemployment, health issues are common in the state. The TMC did nothing to curb them. Now Abhishek is trying to change the topic. Who says Rajnath Singh and Kailash Vijayvargiya’s son cannot be legislators? As far as Mukul Roy and Suvendu are concerned, both were in the TMC when members of their families were given electoral nomination,” observed Bhattacharya, rubbishing Abhishek’s claim that BJP has a history of dynastic politics.
