New Delhi: At least 97 flights were cancelled at the Delhi airport on Sunday amid prevailing fog conditions in northern India, reports claimed.

Among the flights cancelled, about 48 were arrivals and 49 departures, Hindustan Times reported. This apart, more than 200 flights have also been reportedly delayed.

More than 50 trains operated by Northern Railways were also delayed due to the fog.

On Sunday, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued an advisory warning that fog conditions in parts of northern India have been affecting visibility. The advisory warned against delays or changes in flight operations at select airports.

“Fog conditions in parts of Northern India are affecting visibility and may lead to delays or changes in flight operations at select airports. Passengers are advised to check flight updates with their airlines through official channels and allow extra time for airport travel and formalities,” AAI’s advisory reads, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Meanwhile, the Delhi airport’s passenger advisory at 10am on Sunday stated that flight operations at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport “continue to be normal”. However, it advised passengers to “ consult” with their respective airlines for updated flight schedules. At noon, the advisory again stated that services were normal.
