New Delhi: While hearing the Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) case on Friday, the Supreme Court ruled that any of the eleven documents in Form 6 or Aadhaar card can be submitted, reports claimed.
The apex court has allowed submission of applications seeking inclusion in the voters list through online mode. Physical submission of forms is not necessary, reported LiveLaw.
The SC instructed that all 12 political parties in Bihar shall issue specific directions to party workers to assist people in filing and submission of requisite forms with any 11 documents in Form 6 or Aadhaar Card. The court expressed surprise over political parties’ inaction in not coming forward with the correction of names of deleted voters in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in poll-bound Bihar. Supreme Court takes note of ECI’s submission that 85,000 new voters have come forward in SIR of Bihar, and only two objections have been filed by booth-level agents of political parties.
On the last date, the Court directed ECI to publish on websites district-wise list of names of 65 lakh voters deleted in the draft rolls (in EPIC-searchable format). It also ordered ECI to notify to the public that Aadhaar card can be submitted by those deleted from the draft rolls.
On July 29, the Supreme Court, while refusing to stay the preparation of the draft rolls, had assured the petitioners that it would step in immediately in case of a “mass exclusion” in the voters’ lists. Earlier, the Court had also asked the ECI to consider documents like Aadhaar and Election Photo Identity Cards as valid documents.
