Acclaimed Bhajan Singer Narendra Chanchal Passes Away

New Delhi: Renowned bhajan singer Narendra Chanchal died at a hospital here on Friday afternoon. He was 80.

According to reports, Chanchal had not been keeping well for the past three months and was undergoing treatment.

The singer was born in a religious Punjabi family at Namak Mandi in Amritsar in 1940.

Acclaimed for his hymns and religious songs, Chanchal had also lent his voice to several Bollywood tracks such as ‘Beshak Mandir Masjid’ (Bobby, 1973), ‘Baki Kuchh Bacha’ (Roti Kapda Aur Makan, 1974) and ‘Huye Hain Kuchh Aise’ (Anjaane, 1994), India Today reported.

For ‘Beshak Mandir Masjid’, Chanchal had won the Filmfare Best Male Playback Award.

He had also earned an honorary citizenship of the US state of Georgia.
