Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Friday apprehended accountant- cum- supporting staff (contractual) at the Block Education Officer, Saintala, in Balangir while allegedly accepting Rs 18,000 as bribe.
According to an official release, the accused, Ajaya Khuntia, had demanded the illegal gratification from an assistant teacher to process the file of National Pension Scheme and release pending dearness allowance recently released by the government in favour of him and other teachers.The entire bribe money was recovered from him and seized.
While a case has been registered under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, at Sambalpur Vigilance police station, searches are on at two locations linked to Khuntia to ascertain whether he had accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, it added.
