Cuttack: A man, who was held in connection with a criminal case, reportedly gave a slip to the police before being produced before a court in Narasinghpur area of Odisha’s Cuttack district.
As per reports, the fugitive, identified as 30-year-old Bapuji Rout of Paika Barabati village, fled from the custody of Kanpur police on Wednesday while being taken for production before the Executive Magistrate in Narasinghpur.
Rout and another accused were taken to the Magistrate-cum-tehsildar’s court. Rout fled escaped and fled in front of the magistrate’s office room.
A police team had to wait at the court from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm and there was an unusual delay in the process for producing the accused before the court. Taking advantage of this, accused Rout escaped due to alleged security lapses.
Following the incident, a joint team of Kanpur and Narasinghpur police launched a manhunt to nab the man. The accused is yet to be traced.
