New Delhi: Confessing to his crime, Tauseef, the prime accused in the murder of 21-year-old Nikita Tomar in Faridabad, said he killed her because she was about to get married to someone else.
Investigation revealed that Tauseef and Nikita had spoken on the phone on the intervening night of October 24-25, a day before she was murdered in broad daylight, India Today reported. The conversation lasted for more than 16 minutes, said police.
It may be recalled that Tauseef was caught on camera shooting Nikita after a failed abduction bid in Faridabad’s Ballabgarh on Monday afternoon.
According to the victim’s family, accused Tauseef had been harassing their daughter for a long time. Speaking to India Today TV, the victim’s brother said, “We registered a case against the accused in 2018. He had harassed my sister for marriage and kidnapped her so we had filed an FIR against him. Police had arrested him the same day and after talks in a panchayat, the matter was settled.”
Now, Tauseef has said that he murdered Nikita Tomar to exact revenge for his arrest.
During the interrogation, he told police, “I couldn’t study medicine because I was arrested. And hence I took revenge,” India Today reported.
Nikita was killed on Monday when she was coming out of her college after appearing for an exam. She was taken to the hospital but she succumbed to injuries, ACP Ballabgarh Jaiveer Singh Rathi told India Today.
