Puri: In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly threw acid at a father-son duo over dispute relating to land at a village in Odisha’s Puri district on Monday.
The incident reportedly took place at Uasapadar village under Krushnaprasad block of the district.
As per preliminary information, two families in the village were at loggerheads over a land dispute for quite some time. However, the situation turned worse as accused, identified as Santosh Maharana, threw acid at Adhikari Tarei and his son Rajendra Tarei while the two were working at the agriculture field.
Both sustained critical injuries in the acid attack. They were initially rushed to the Krushnaprasad Community Health Centre (CHC) and then shifted to AIIMS in Bhubaneswar for better treatment. Their condition was stated to be critical.
Based on a complaint lodged by the family members of the victims, police have detained Maharana for interrogation and launched an investigation into the incident. Further details are awaited.
