Cuttack: The Odisha government has informed the Orissa High Court about its proposal to entrust the additional chief secretary (ACS), Forest and Environment, to monitor the security in the wetlands of Chilika Lake and Bhitarkanika National Park.
Submitting an affidavit to this effect before the division bench of Chief Justice KS Jhaveri and Justice KR Mahapatra during a hearing on the security measures in Chilika and Bhitarkanika, eviction of illegal prawn gheries and infiltration of Bangladeshi nationals in Kendrapara district, the government counsel informed that the state government has the proposal to entrust the ACS to monitor the security arrangement in Chilika and Bhitarkanika Wetlands.
The bench, while accepting the affidavit, informed that the affidavit of the state government will be taken up in its next hearing on December 18.
