ACs With Full 5 Year Warranty

Bhubaneswar: Did you know that the PCB of a modern inverter-driven air conditioner can cost anywhere between Rs 3,000-Rs 10,000! And a condenser coil is around Rs 6,000. Most manufacturers give a long 5-10 year warranty on the compressor, but just a year on the electronics. Here are a few brands that give a full or near full five-year cover on an AC:

1. Voltas
   The Tata-owned company is one of the highest sellers of ACs in the country. Voltas now gives a full 5-year warranty that covers electronics, as well as the coils. The compressor gets a 10-year warranty. The street price of a Voltas 1.5 ton 3-star inverter AC here is around Rs 34,000.
   
2. Haier
   The Chinese appliances giant is one of the cheapest air conditioners to give a full 5-year warranty cover. It gives a long 12-year warranty on the compressor. Haier’s 1.5 ton 3-star inverter AC costs around Rs 32,000 here. It comes with a claimed 50-feet air throw and a comprehensive auto cleaning option.
3. Panasonic
   Panasonic gives a 5-year warranty on the electronics and a 10 year warranty on the compressor.
   
4. Samsung
   Samsung gives a 5-year warranty on the condenser and 10-year warranty on the compressor. Samsung comes with an aluminium alloy condenser instead of a copper one.

Apart from these, brands such as LG give extended warranty at a small fee to cover all the components in case of a failure.
